Bruce W. Tuckman proposed in 1965 that teams undergo several developmental stages:

In 1977, he added a fifth stage, Closing.

Stage 1: Formation (Immature Team)

During this initial phase, team members often display dependence on each other. They seek safety, rely on familiar behaviors, and look to their leader for guidance. Topics tend to be light, avoiding any serious discussions.

Stage 5: Closing

The final stage, Closing, involves concluding task-related activities and gradually disengaging from team relationships.
