Embracing Life: A Personal Reflection on Love and Growth

Chapter 1: A Grateful Heart
Life is indeed a wonderful journey!
I consider myself lucky to share my life with a husband who offers me the love and support I crave while allowing me the space to be myself. He doesn’t mind my need for solitude and enjoys the same genres of books and films that I do. He cherishes our dogs, understands my longing for my departed parents, and playfully corrects me when I misremember song lyrics from our youth. His appreciation for music goes beyond just the words; he values the melodies as well. Instead of viewing my high energy as a nuisance, he sees it as a strength.
He is always there for our son Jason, who is now 40, and we connect through nightly Facetime calls. He holds a special affection for Dara, son-in-law Michael, and our two young granddaughters, though we both wish we could be closer to them physically. He reassures me that I am beautiful, even on days when my reflection tells a different story. These times feel uncertain and daunting, making sleep elusive as anxious thoughts swirl in my mind.
While yoga provides a sense of calm, I find that ESSENTRICS offers the best workout for enhancing flexibility, coordination, and overall well-being. It has become a vital part of my routine, helping me feel revitalized and accomplished. However, life is not without its imperfections.
Author: Bonnie Lieberman is a poet and children's book author. She is also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
As a child, I grew up in an apartment building in The Bronx, NY, where I found joy in jumping rope, playing catch, and riding my bike. My friends and I created imaginative worlds, often embodying characters from our favorite stories. With a passion for reading, I have dedicated my career to nurturing creativity in students as a licensed elementary school teacher and reading specialist. Although I cherished my time teaching young children, my most fulfilling experiences have been working with adolescents in a psychiatric hospital. Now residing in Bergen County, NJ, with my husband, who is also a child therapist, I enjoy the company of our adult children and grandchildren.
The Takeaway by Lewis Harrison from "AskLewisTips.com"
I have a deep appreciation for writing and often find joy in the works of my friends and peers. Much of what I receive resonates with me, bypassing my analytical side to touch that part of me that yearns for meaning, rhythm, and emotional depth.
To me, the best writing, similar to poetry, possesses a natural richness in meter, intonation, and rhythm. Many readers might not realize that rhythm and meter, while related, are distinct. Meter refers to the established pattern of a verse, while rhythm is the sound that emerges from the arrangement of poetic words and phrases.
I am fortunate to have many talented friends who produce remarkable work. Often, they share their creations in private blogs or social media posts that reach only a handful of people. I have decided to showcase some of their exceptional writing on Medium.com, with Bonnie's permission to share her poems and stories.
