Excitement Builds for Apple's Upcoming September Event

Chapter 1: The Invitation
Apple has officially announced that its next event will occur on September 12, and as usual, it will be broadcast live from Apple Park. A limited number of journalists, content creators, and industry experts have received their invites for the in-person event. I have one pressing question regarding the invitation itself. And no, it’s not about why I wasn’t invited—I’m completely fine with that, really. So let’s not dwell on it.
The design of this invitation stands out as one of the more intriguing ones from Apple. While I'm aware that these artistic interpretations of the classic Apple logo are often just clever marketing ploys, I can't help but comment on it every year.
We Know What's Coming
The reason I'm fixating on the invitation rather than the new products is that we already know what will be unveiled on September 12. I’ve previously shared my thoughts on this.
Apple is set to introduce the new iPhone 15 series. The premium model might replace the ‘Pro Max’ name with ‘Ultra’. Expect slimmer bezels, an enhanced camera system with superior optical zoom, and the long-awaited phase-out of the Lightning port. Additionally, we might see the return of Monkey Island across the entire lineup.
We may also catch a glimpse of a new Apple Watch series. While it may not be a significant upgrade (that will likely happen next year), we can hope for some meaningful enhancements, particularly regarding battery life and perhaps some new watch bands.
There’s a slight chance we could see an updated Apple TV or a mention of Vision Pro, but those are less likely. This event is mainly focused on the iPhone and Apple Watch, so we have a good idea of what to expect.
Chapter 1.1: The Invitation Graphics
Apple's invite for this September event doesn’t explicitly indicate it’s about the iPhone. As is customary, they’ve taken the Apple logo and given it a creative twist. However, there are two notable aspects this time.
First, let’s discuss the bottom part of the Apple logo. The design raises some eyebrows, doesn’t it? The more I scrutinize it, the more it evokes a certain impression.
Secondly, Apple has opted for the term ‘Wonderlust’ alongside the logo. This doesn’t seem to be a recognized word. Google’s autocomplete doesn’t acknowledge it, implying it’s seldom searched online. Even macOS autocorrects it to ‘wanderlust’.
When prompted with “what does wonderlust mean?”, Google raises an eyebrow and suggests “did you mean wanderlust?”
Wanderlust refers to the desire to escape everyday life and explore new experiences. That aligns well with an iPhone event, right? So why the spelling error?
After some digging, I discovered a definition for ‘wonderlust’ on Urban Dictionary, describing it as the phase in a relationship when someone is unsure if they are experiencing lust or love. That doesn’t quite fit the Apple narrative, does it?
Regardless, I trust Apple knows what it’s doing, and at the end of the day, it may not matter much.
Chapter 1.2: My Live Reaction Plan
For the first time, I’ll be live-streaming my reactions to Apple’s September event shortly after it concludes. I’ll share my complete thoughts on whatever is revealed that day and will be available for questions!
If you're interested in joining the stream, you can set a reminder here. Hope to see you there!
