The Disturbing Tale of Michele MacNeill: A Life Cut Short

Written on

Chapter 1: A Shocking Emergency Call

In the early hours of the morning, a panicked call reached the police from a distraught husband.

Dispatcher: "911, what’s your emergency?"

Martin: "My wife has fallen in the bathtub!"

Dispatcher: "Is she conscious?"

Martin: "No, I’m a doctor. She’s unconscious and underwater."

Dispatcher: "Did you manage to get her out?"

Martin: "I couldn’t lift her. I let the water out."

Michele MacNeill, a striking woman from California, had many admirers but ultimately chose to marry Martin MacNeill, an aspiring doctor and lawyer. Together, they had eight children, with the last four being adopted. The family appeared idyllic, residing in a gated community in Pleasant Grove, Utah. However, beneath this facade, Martin's behavior shifted drastically as he approached fifty. He became preoccupied with his appearance, tanning excessively and exercising to shed pounds. His absences from home grew longer and more frequent, leading Michele to confront him, though he deflected her inquiries.

Section 1.1: Pushing for Surgery

Martin urged Michele to enhance her looks with a full facelift. She consented, but he hastened the process, securing an anesthesiologist and scheduling the procedure within two weeks. On April 3, 2007, Michele underwent surgery. Their daughter, Alexis, returned home from medical school in Nevada to care for her mother. The following morning, Alexis noticed Michele was heavily sedated, regaining consciousness only after nearly twenty-four hours. Michele confided in Alexis that Martin had been administering medication to her. This revelation led Alexis to confront Martin, who acknowledged it, prompting her to insist he cease administering more drugs. For the next four days, Alexis vigilantly monitored her mother's medication.

At that time, Michele expressed concern to Alexis: “If anything happens to me, make sure it wasn’t your dad.”

Subsection 1.1.1: Uncovering Infidelity

Michele suspected Martin was unfaithful, asking Alexis to investigate. It didn't take long for Alexis to discover that Martin was involved with a woman named Gypsy. Despite appearances of recovery, the family’s peace shattered when a frantic 911 call came from their home on April 11, 2007. Martin hung up on the dispatcher multiple times, leading to delays in locating their address. In a desperate attempt, he sent his youngest daughter, Ada, to seek help from neighbors.

Upon arrival, the neighbors found Michele half-dressed in the bathtub. They assisted Martin in lifting her out, but his attempts at CPR were futile. Martin then called Alexis, claiming, “Your mother is in the tub. She isn’t breathing. I called for an ambulance,” before abruptly hanging up. Shocked, Alexis hurried to the airport, but sadly, Michele did not survive. Doctors attributed her death to natural causes, citing underlying health issues, and the police closed the case shortly after.
