Transform Your Life: Embrace Failure and Start Anew

Written on

Chapter 1: The Game is Rigged

Let me share an insight I wish I had learned sooner. As the saying goes, it's better late than never. The truth is, the system we live in is skewed, and unfortunately, that's just how things operate. However, the real issue lies deeper.

The core challenge we face is our inability to think independently. From the moment we enter this world, influential figures begin shaping our thoughts and behaviors. During our formative years, from birth to age seven, we are conditioned for a predetermined path. In our teenage years, our aspirations are often dismissed, leaving us feeling inadequate.

I spent nearly three decades under this influence, but I refuse to continue down that road. It's perfectly acceptable to begin anew.

Section 1.1: Overcoming Fear of Failure

I used to experience a heavy sensation in my chest whenever I made a mistake. This fear eventually silenced me in class, as I dreaded appearing foolish. However, I’ve come to understand that nobody is correct all the time. Failure is an inevitable part of life, so it’s essential to embrace it.

“Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.” — Richard Branson.

Think back to your first steps. Perhaps you don’t remember, but I vividly recall my niece learning to walk. She stumbled repeatedly but never let it deter her.

“Fall down seven times, stand up eight.” — Japanese Proverb

Society has misled us into believing that failure is unacceptable, labeling it as a trait of the unsuccessful. This notion is misguided; failure is a precursor to progress. The quicker you fail, the quicker you learn, and this accelerated learning allows you to rectify your mistakes.

Section 1.2: Change Begins Within

While I understand that shouting affirmations at a mirror won't change your life, I firmly believe that you must cultivate wealth in your mind before it manifests in reality. Many successful entrepreneurs echo this sentiment, often dismissed by others as unrealistic dreams. Yet, they persist, confident that their vision will eventually materialize.

Some attribute this to belief or destiny, but to me, it’s a form of determined imagination—and that’s perfectly fine. The body achieves what the mind envisions.

Chapter 2: Every Expert Was Once a Novice

When you attempt something for the first time, expect it to be a disaster. I assure you, you won’t excel immediately. But that’s not a reflection of your capabilities; it’s simply the beginning of your journey.

“The master has failed more times than the student has even tried.” — Stephan McCranie.

Choosing the path of least resistance yields minimal rewards. The easy route might provide instant gratification, but in years to come, you may regret not taking the more challenging path. You may find the initial stages unpleasant and feel tempted to give up, but resist that urge.

Perseverance is key; often, all it takes is one successful attempt to transform your life. Mastery is not instantaneous; it’s a gradual process that unfolds over time.
