# Understanding the Roots of Human Violence: A Call for Awareness
Written on
Chapter 1: The State of Humanity
Humans often exist in a state of observation without genuine perception. They may hear sounds without truly listening, and while they are physically present, they often fail to engage with life meaningfully. This existence is akin to living in a simulated void.
Whether affluent or struggling, individuals frequently find themselves discontent, attributing their unhappiness to a perceived lack. The common thought is, "If only I possessed this, I would be fulfilled," or "With that, I would find peace." Yet, no amount of material wealth can fill the profound emptiness within the human spirit.

Section 1.1: The Ripple Effect of Self-Loathing
If one were to only wrestle with their own demons, it might be bearable. However, the pain and hatred that a person harbors for themselves inevitably spills over, affecting those around them. This self-hatred manifests like ink from a tipped pen, causing ripples of suffering across the globe.
How is it possible for someone to raise a hand against another? When one inflicts harm, doesn’t it resonate as self-harm? The cries of the injured should echo within us. When they gaze up in fear, isn’t that a reflection of our own vulnerability? Each person shares the same fundamental attributes—two eyes, two legs, a beating heart. Is it not alarming how easily we overlook our shared humanity in favor of focusing on differences?

Section 1.2: The Challenge of Empathy
A person filled with animosity may view their own twin as a stranger. However, if you gaze deeply into the eyes of a cow before ending its life, you might catch a glimpse of your own essence reflected back at you. The same applies when confronting another human being.
If you find it hard to empathize with others, simply look into their eyes. Maintain that connection; don’t avert your gaze or squirm—just look. If you struggle to feel compassion for yourself, do the same. Peer into your own eyes and delve deep into your soul.
